The details of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel are actually hard to find. The key point in this deal is that Israel wants to keep control of the Netzarim Corridor and the Philadelphi Corridor. Israel says this is to control the flow of weapons and activities that could threaten their security. However, there’s a big problem. Hamas claims this condition was never part of the original deal presented by the United States and that it was added later to give Israel all the negotiating power.

Another issue causing problems for the deal is that Egypt is saying Israel will break the peace treaty they have if Israel places guard towers on the Philadelphi border. This would give Israel a tactical advantage and allow them to observe Egyptian territories, which Egypt sees as a violation of their agreement.

The concerning thing about all of this is that the United States seems to be the only major player calling the shots and pushing both sides toward peace or some kind of deal. Israel even said they hope the U.S. can persuade Hamas. Surprisingly, Hamas made positive comments about the U.S., saying the original deal was fair. • A person armed with a knife took the lives of three individuals and severely injured at least five others late Friday during a festival in Solingen, a city in western Germany, according to authorities.

  The “Festival of Diversity,” which was celebrating the city’s 650th anniversary, kicked off on Friday and was scheduled to continue through Sunday. The event featured several stages in the city center, offering attractions like live music, cabaret, and acrobatics.

  However, after the attack, the city decided to cancel the remainder of the festival. Solingen, a city with about 160,000 residents, is located in western Germany.
